Since the founding of Gamma Sigma Sigma in 1952, we have thrived and expanded to include many collegiate and alumni organizations while making a positive impact on the communities in which we live and learn. The lifelong friendships you will make through your sorority will last into post-graduation years. Any individual who wishes to serve others may become a member of Gamma Sigma Sigma by following guidelines, as set forth by the National Bylaws, chapter and academic institution.

A person is considered a member in training after attending, or reaching out to our member’s to get information about recruitment events. Those who attend will be selected to receive bids, or invitations to join our sorority. This bid is your invitation to the first of two ceremonies, called initiation. The member in training program culminates with the second ritual ceremony, or activation. Due at initiation is a fee of $25.00 dollars to help our chapter cover the materials we request from our national organization. After this, you should expect a period of 4-8 weeks in which you learn along side our Membership Vice President, President, and Service Vice President. You will learn about our organization, complete service projects, and fundraise while bonding with our class of members and current active members. You will be considered a fully initiated and active member of Gamma Sigma Sigma upon completion of the activation ceremony which is held after competition of the 4-8 week education period.

Gamma Sigma Sigma does not discriminate and is not selective. Gamma Sigma Sigma also accepts individuals who are members of other organizations into its membership.

Members of chapters and colonies pay annual national dues. Chapters may also have local chapter dues for membership.
