Fundraising While Following COVID-19 Guidelines

Fundraising for your organization or for a cause has become more and more difficult due to the presence of COVID-19. Some fundraisers are no longer safe to organize due to CDC guidelines but all is not lost! There are still many safe and effective fundraisers and fundraising tactics that can be employed to assist you with your fundraising goals. Sometimes you can take a previously successful fundraiser and revamp it to make it safer and compliant with CDC guidelines. All it takes is some creativity, resourcefulness, and some trial and error!

Below you’ll find a list of potential fundraising ideas that may be compatible with your organization’s mission and help you raise some funds for your organization or cause.

Fundraising Ideas:

  • Virtual Auction
    • This can be a live auction or a silent auction held over Zoom.
    • Email or call local businesses/artists for donations.
  • Virtual Paint and Sip
    • Have some fun on Zoom painting along with a guest artist.
    • You can choose to provide the materials or leave that up to the attendees.
    • This is great for the more chill crowd!
  • Virtual Open Mic Night
    • This can appeal to a large audience – instrumentalists, bands, singers, poets, comedians, actors.
  • Guest Speakers & Presentations
    • The possibilities for talks and presentations are endless!
    • A great idea for an audience interested in personal development or interested in learning something new.
  • E-sports Tournament

For any of these ideas to be successful, you MUST create effective and eye-catching marketing! A strong social media presence and attractive advertising can make all the difference between a successful fundraiser and one that flops!

A Quick Tip: Use an online payment service, such as Venmo, Cash App, Paypal, etc., for your organization to avoid the collection of physical currency.
