A Letter From Our President
Prospective members and guests,
Welcome to the Interfraternity Council.
Fraternity life here at the University of Maine seeks to encompass four core values; academics, community service and philanthropy, leadership, and fellowship. Our Fraternal community is accomplished in all of these core values and defies the Greek stereotype that is perpetuated in modern society. We have a diverse community that encompasses different interests and lifestyles and we are confident that there is a fraternity on campus that would be a great fit for anyone here at UMaine.
Fraternities at UMaine demonstrate our core values through our grades, our community service hours, philanthropy dollars raised, our on campus leadership positions, and the lifelong friendships made. We believe that the time you spend outside of the classroom can greatly contribute to what an undergraduate takes away from their experience in college. Many within our community have said that there is no better way to spend this time than in the fellowship of fraternity brothers striving to learn, contribute, and enjoy their time here at UMaine.
Greek Life is a commitment to these higher ideals and core values. Everyone in Greek Life has taken an oath to live their life based on the values and principles of their chapters. These values stem from our core values as a community. Commitment is difficult, especially for a college student, but there is no better commitment than one of scholarship, leadership, community involvement, and brotherhood. Committing to these higher values in front of your fellow brothers for the betterment of yourself, your chapter, the Greek community, and society as a whole is a very powerful experience.
If you are interested in getting the most out of your undergraduate experience, giving back to the university and community, creating life-long friendships and memories, and finding your place here at UMaine, I would suggest getting involved within Greek Life. If you have any questions or need anything, please do not hesitate to ask. I hope you will join our team!
