Selective Scholarships for Graduates of Specific High Schools

The following scholarships are for students from Maine high schools unless otherwise stated.

Applications for 2021-2022 Selective Scholarships are now closed. Applications for 2022-2023 Selective Scholarships will be available on ScholarshipUniverse at a later date.


Denotes that filing a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is required for determining eligibility for a particular scholarship.

Scholarships with a * indicate incoming students will have first preference in consultation with the high school.


The Ava H. Chadbourne Fund  *
Awarded to a female first year student who is a native-born and life-long resident of Maine with preference in the following order:
•  Member of the Chadbourne family (does not need to meet the residency requirement)
•  Graduate of Mattawamkeag High School
•  Graduate of Lee Academy
•  Student who lives near Mattawamkeag, Maine

 

The Marguerite and Harry B. Evans Memorial Scholarship Fund
Awarded to a meritorious student from Gorham High School; first preference to a Maine Scholars Academic Achievement Award recipient.

 

The Deacon Ephraim Flint Scholarship Fund
Awarded with first preference to a descendant of Deacon Ephraim Flint of Baldwin, Maine.

 

The H. Wilson Greene Scholarship Fund 
Awarded to graduates of a Millinocket High School with first preference torelatives of members of the Millinocket Chapter of Veterans of Foreign Wars.

 

The Great Falls Scholarship Fund 
Awarded to graduates of a Lewiston/Auburn high school (public or private) and/or residents of Lewiston/Auburn who are at least of sophomore grade level and have a minimum 3.0 GPA.  Students must be strong collaborators in student government and/or campus activities at UMaine.   

 

Gwen E. Knowlton Scholarship

Awarded in the following order to:
  • Descendants of Gwen’s brother Darryl C. Knowlton of Deer Isle, Maine who demonstrate academic merit and the willingness to be involved through participation in school activities including athletics and/or community service.
  • Graduates of Deer Isle – Stonington High School  who demonstrate academic merit, financial need and willingness to be involved through participation in school activities including athletics and/or community service.
  • To students who demonstrate academic merit, study any engineering field or any related new technology in the College of Engineering, demonstrate financial need and demonstrate a willingness to be involved through participation in school activities including athletics and/or community service.

 

The Limestone Future Farmers of America Scholarship Fund
Awarded to graduates of Limestone High School who are Future Farmers of America members.

 

The Mathieu-Story Scholarship Fund 
Awarded in the following order to:

•  Direct descendants of Mary & Wilfred Mathieu or Annie & Anson Story
•  Graduates of Winslow High School majoring in History or Elementary Education
•  Graduates of Winslow High School who demonstrate financial need and high academic standing

 

The Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Sylvio Normandeau Scholarship Fund 
Awarded to students with financial need and academic merit after successful completion of one semester at The University of Maine; awarded in the following order of preference:
•  Descendants of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert S. Normandeau
•  Winslow High School graduates

 

The  Joan Vachon Victor ’52 and Milton Victor ’51 Scholarship Fund
Awarded to graduates of Thornton Academy in Saco, Maine who demonstrate financial need; preference shall be given to the grandchildren of Joan Vachon Victor ’52 and Milton Victor ’51.

 

The Pemetic High School Alumni Scholarship
Awarded to descendants of Pemetic High School (Southwest Harbor, Maine) Alumni.
