Applications for 2021-2022 Selective Scholarships are now closed. Applications for 2022-2023 Selective Scholarships will be available on ScholarshipUniverse at a later date.


Denotes that filing a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is required for determining eligibility for a particular scholarship.


The Bear Pairs Scholarship

Children, grandchildren, or great-grandchildren of Bear Pairs with financial need; may be renewed if cumulative GPA is 2.5 or above. Bear Pairs are University of Maine alumni couples who have traveled life’s road together.

The Class of 1911 Scholarship *
Awarded to students with financial need of good character, satisfactory conduct and rank, and leadership qualities, and who are sons and daughters of members of the class

The Class of 1922 Fund
Awarded to relatives of members of the class

The Class of 1926 Scholarship Fund *
Awarded to students with financial need and deserving students of good scholastic standing who are descendants of class members

The Class of 1931 Scholarship Fund *
Awarded to descendants of the class. Awards are based upon scholastic attainment, financial need and character

The Class of 1932 Winthrop C. Libby Scholarship *
Awarded to worthy and to students with financial need who are relatives of the Class of 1932

The Class of 1938 Student Aid Fund
Awarded to descendants of the class

The Class of 1939 Scholarship Fund *
Awarded to students with financial need and are academically qualified students who are descendants of the class

The Class of 1941 Memorial Scholarship Fund *
Awarded to students with financial need with scholastic potential who are descendants of members of the class

The Class of 1947 Fund
Awarded to descendants of members of the class

The Class of 1948 Scholarship Fund
Awarded to academically meritorious descendants of the class

The Class of 1950 Scholarship Fund
Awarded to descendants of members of the class

The Class of 1951 Scholarship
Awarded to descendants of members of the class

The Class of 1952 Scholarship *
Awards made in the following order:

  • Children and grandchildren of the class who demonstrate financial need
  • Children and grandchildren of the class without financial need
  • Direct descendants of the class

The Class of 1955 Scholarship Fund *
Awarded to descendants of members of the class with first preference given to descendants with financial need; second preference to descendants without financial need

The Class of 1956 Scholarship Fund
Awarded to descendants of the class who demonstrate academic excellence

The Class of 1957 Scholarship *
Awarded on the basis of need, promise of academic success and leadership to children of members of the class

The Class of 1958 Scholarship *
Awarded to upper-class students with financial need who are children of members of the class

The Class of 1959 Scholarship Fund
Awarded in the following order:

  • Graduates of the Class of 1959
  • Descendants of members of the Class of 1959

The Class of 1960 Academic / Athletic Scholarship Fund
One award to a child of a member of the class on the basis of academic promise

The Class of 1961 Scholarship at the University of Maine at Orono *
Awarded to descendants of members of the class who demonstrate financial need and academic merit

The Class of 1962 Sterritt Scholarship
Awarded to children of members of the class

The Class of 1964 Scholarship Fund
Awarded in the following order:

  • Graduates of the Class of 1964
  • Descendants of members of the Class of 1964

The Class of 1965 Scholarship Fund
Awarded to descendants of members of the class

The Class of 1966 Scholarship Fund
Awarded to descendants of the class

The Class of 1967 Scholarship
Awarded to children of members of the class

The Class of 1968 David R. Rittenhouse Scholarship Fund *
Awarded to worthy and deserving students who are descendants of the class; first preference is given to children of class members with financial need; second preference is given to children of class members without financial need

Awarded in the following order:

  • Graduates of the Class of 1969
  • Descendants of members of the Class of 1969

The Class of 1970 Scholarship Fund
Awarded with first priority to direct descendants, adopted children, and step-children of members of the class; second priority is given to younger brothers and sisters of the members of the class

The Class of 1971 Scholarship Fund
Awarded to descendants of the members of the class

The Class of 1972 Scholarship Fund
Awarded in the following order:

  • Graduates of the Class of 1972
  • Descendants of members of the Class of 1972

The Class of 1973 Scholarship Fund
Awarded in the following order:

  • Graduates of the Class of 1973
  • Descendants of members of the Class of 1973

The Class of 1974 Scholarship Fund
Awarded in the following order:

  • Graduates of the Class of 1974
  • Descendants of members of the Class of 1974

The Class of 1975 Scholarship Fund
Awarded to descendants of the members of the class

The Class of 1976 Scholarship Fund
First preference to graduates of the Class of 1976; second preference to descendants of class members

Awarded in the following order:

  • Graduates of the Class of 1977

First preference to graduates of the Class of 1978; second preference to descendants of class members
