Humanities Collaboration Discussion of Social Media and the #MeToo Movement

November 2, 2018 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

The UMaine/Orono High School Humanities Collaboration invites you to a discussion of social media and the #MeToo movement. Members of the community, UMaine faculty and students, and local high school students, parents, and faculty are all welcome.

The discussion will be held in the Orono High School Library and will be moderated by Judith E. Rosenbaum, Assistant Professor of media studies at UMaine. Refreshments will be served.

Our discussion will build on the issues raised by Leigh Gilmore’s Stephen E. King Chair lecture, “Graphic Witness: Testimony, Confession and the #MeToo Movement.” Her lecture will take place on Tuesday, October 30th in UMaine’s Minsky Recital Hall at 4:30, and is free and open to the public. Attending her lecture is not a prerequisite for attending this event.

If you have any questions about this discussion or Leigh Gilmore’s lecture, contact Professor Caroline Bicks: caroline.bicks@maine.edu.
