University Singers Season Premiere Performance

ORONO, Maine — The University of Maine Singers will present the opening concerts of their 2014-15 performance season on Saturday, November 8th at 7:30PM and on Sunday, November 9th at 2:00PM. Both performances will be in Minsky Recital Hall on the University of Maine campus and will mark their season premiere.

 

Francis John Vogt, who was recently named the Director of Choral Activities at UMaine, will make his debut as the director of the University Singers. Hand selected by longtime conductor Dr. Dennis Cox, Vogt will lead the ensemble in a variety of pieces by composers such as J.S. Bach, Daniel Pinkham, Brian Edward Galante, and Josef Rheinberger.

 

The University Singers is the premiere auditioned choir of the University of Maine. The group is comprised of members across all disciplines with nearly half of its members coming from outside of the music major. They perform multiple concerts on campus throughout the academic year, tour New England for one week each spring, and perform abroad every four years.
