Academic History

After receiving bachelor’s degrees from Peking University, I worked in a commercial bank as a banking manger specializing in international trade, corporate finance and offshore banking. I obtained my Ph.D. degree in Economics from North Carolina State University in 2013. My doctoral research focused on management of natural disaster risks in the U.S. forest sector.

Research and Teaching Interests

My primary research interests lie in the fields of risk management, agricultural finance, production economics and spatial econometrics. These include topics such as management of natural disaster risks, development of spatial econometrics methodology, inference of causal environmental factors of contagious hazards, designs of insurance products and assessment of government policies. Further, interdisciplinary collaboration has been an integral part of my research. I have been working closely with scholars from different scientific background, such as foresters and statisticians. I teach ECO 515 – Advanced Microeconomics in the spring semester 2014.

Current and Future Research

My current research focuses on modeling production risks and designing associated insurance programs with spatial econometrics technique.  I am developing risk management tools and policy instruments that are of direct interest to both private markets and the government.
