SOE Celebrates Dr. Keith Evans’ Promotion to Associate Professor

SOE congratulates Dr. Keith Evans on his promotion to Associate Professor with tenure. Dr. Evans uses microeconomics and applied econometric approaches to (1) study public preferences for resource policy and products and (2) assess how resource management decisions impact resource users. He often works closely with coastal and marine resource managers to align his research with real-world policy questions, advance the University of Maine’s Land/Sea Grant mission, and support solutions to coastal and marine problems. As made clear in his application for promotion and tenure, Dr. Evans has made important contributions to SOE, SMS, NSFA, UMaine, and beyond through his teaching, research, and service. From 2014 to 2019, he published 9 peer-reviewed journal articles, contributed to more than 50 professional presentations to diverse audiences, and was responsible for more than $500,000 in external funding. During this same time period, he received the 2019 UMaine Graduate School NSFA Graduate Faculty Mentor Award. Dr. Evans chaired/co-chaired 11 Master’s committees and served on 5 Ph.D. and 14 Master’s committees. He has mentored multiple undergraduate Honor’s students and SOE & SMS capstone students, providing students with research experiences and opportunities to engage with stakeholders. Through his SOE teaching, Dr. Evans’ has shared his enthusiasm for and expertise in applied econometrics with numerous undergraduate and graduate students, giving them critical economics and data analysis skills. The SOE Community celebrates his many successes. Congratulations Keith !
