SOE Graduate Student Eric Miller starts Fulbright in Laos

SOE (and SPIA) Graduate Student Eric Miller recently began his Fulbright Program experience in Lao People’s Democratic Republic, or Laos.  As noted in the UMaine press release last June, ‘The Fulbright U.S. Student Program is named for Sen. J. William Fulbright, who introduced a bill in Congress in 1945 that called for the use of surplus war property to fund “promotion of international goodwill through the exchange of students in the fields of education, culture and science.” ‘ Eric earned this experience by successfully competing with applicants from throughout the US on the basis of academic achievement and demonstrated leadership potential in economics and policy. The SOE community congratulates Eric for being awarded this prestigious fellowship and wishes him a wonderful year !
