Richard Scholarship &#8211; Undergraduate Students<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Ms. Pat. I. Richards is a 1983 graduate of the University of Maine BSW program. Recipients of the scholarship are undergraduate University of Maine social work majors with demonstrated financial need.\u00a0 (There are not yet available funds for this scholarship.)<\/p>\n<h4><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">Social Justice Social Work Scholarship<\/span><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Each year one or two students will receive this scholarship based on the following criteria:\u00a0 1.\u00a0 Being in good academic standing; 2.\u00a0 Having financial need; 3.\u00a0 Demonstrating a commitment to social, economic and\/or environmental justice; 4.\u00a0 Expecting pursued a professional path in one of these fields.\u00a0 Preference will be given to BSW students.<\/p>\n<h4><strong><span style=\"color: #3366ff\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">Catharine Wilder Guiles Scholarship &#8211; Graduate MSW Students<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>The Catharine Wilder Guiles Scholarship was created by Ms. Guiles and established at the Maine Community Foundation.\u00a0 This fund supports two annual scholarships to encourage Maine-based professionals (including, but not limited to, nurses, counselors, and social workers) in the mental health field to obtain the best graduate level training possible at the University of Maine (Orono). Scholarships are provided to support students in the University of Maine School of Social Work for graduate study in the field of mental health\/psychiatric social work and to students in the University of Maine School of Nursing for graduate study in the field of mental health\/ psychiatric nursing. Applicants must show demonstrated critical and significant financial need and be residents of the State of Maine. \u00a0The amount of funding varies each year.\u00a0 The scholarship may be applied towards tuition, books, university fees, and housing. Applications are typically disbursed in the Spring semester.<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><strong>Dr. Kimberly Strom-Gottfried &#8217;80 Scholarship &#8211; Undergraduate and Graduate Students<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>Dr. Kim Strom-Gottfried is a 1980 graduate of the University of Maine BSW program.\u00a0 The fund is divided equally to provide scholarship assistance to one undergraduate and one graduate student with financial need who are enrolled in social work at the University of Maine.\u00a0 First preference is given to students with junior status, leadership potential and commitment to the field.\u00a0 Scholarship is distributed only when funds are available and the amount varies year to year.<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><strong>Professor John M. Romanyshyn Student Support Fund<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>This fund was established in honor of a professor who helped a student experiencing significant life challenges.\u00a0 That student established this fund to assist students who face significant family or life challenges that affect their ability to remain in school.\u00a0 Both BSW and MSW students are eligible.\u00a0 Scholarship amounts depend on funding availability.<\/p>\n<h4><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">Coverdell Fellows Scholarship &#8211; Graduate MSW Students &#8211; Past Peace Corps Volunteers<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>The Paul D. Coverdell Fellows program is a graduate fellowship program that offers financial assistance to returned Peace Corps Volunteers. The Coverdell Fellows program provides a great opportunity for returned Peace Corps Volunteers to continue their service to underserved communities while also pursuing graduate studies at a reduced cost.\u00a0 For more information about this scholarship visit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.peacecorps.gov\/volunteer\/university-programs\/graduate-school-partners\/university-of-maine-orono-school-of-social-work\/\">Coverdell Fellows Scholarship<\/a><\/p>\n<h4><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">The University of Maine Regional Graduate Scholarship &#8211; Graduate MSW Students<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>The Regional Graduate Scholarship reduces out-of-state tuition for specific programs.
