The regular, two-year MSW program is located at the University of Maine campus and consists of 63 semester credit hours. Students complete the program in two years. Foundation year courses are scheduled at the UMaine School of Social Work on Monday and Tuesday, and all advanced year courses are scheduled on Wednesday and Thursday. Courses are sequential, and most required courses are offered once a year during the day. All foundation courses must be completed before students begin the advanced year. Two-year students are only admitted in the Fall of each year.<\/p>\n
Two- year program students must complete 400 hours in their field practicum during their foundation year, and then complete 500 hours at a different field practicum location during their advanced year.<\/p>\n

Students who are employed or have other extensive life commitments are encouraged to consider the four-year MSW program of study. The four-year program of study consists of 63 semester credit hours Students typically complete the program in four years, but may do so in three if their schedule allows. Classes are scheduled at the UMaine School of Social Work one day per week. Four-year program students are admitted in the Fall of each year. Four-year program of study students are eligible for financial aid programs if they enroll in at least 6 credits per semester.<\/p>\n
Four-year program students complete 400 hours in the field practicum during their second year of the program. They then complete 500 hours in a different field practicum location during their fourth year of the program.<\/p>\n
