March 24:<\/strong> ADVANCE Rising Tide 5-Year Anniversary Celebration<\/strong>
\nThe Rising Tide Center offers\u00a0this event to thank\u00a0our supporters, and all who have participated in ADVANCE initiatives over the\u00a0last five\u00a0years. Our goal is\u00a0to inspire women scientists at UMaine, and to sustain the celebration of the many accomplishments of\u00a0women in academia.<\/p>\n

Dr. Meredith Hastings, co-founder of the Earth Science Women’s Network\u00a0and\u00a0recipient of an NSF\u00a0CAREER Award and the American Geophysical Union’s Atmospheric Ascent Award will highlight her work in atmospheric chemistry and climate change.<\/p>\n

May 17<\/strong>: ADVANCING Women in Academia: 5th Annual Networking Conference<\/strong><\/p>\n

This year our signature event includes a keynote by Erin Kelly of MIT Sloan School of Management,\u00a0a number of facilitated workshops and small group discussions focused on work-life balance, supporting gender equality, effective networking, and developing grass roots advocacy groups to create and sustain institutional change. An informal poster session will facilitate sharing your work with colleagues and graduate students from across Maine. Faculty and graduate students are welcome.<\/p>\n
