Welcome to the Rising Tide Center for Gender Equity at the University of Maine.

Our work at the Rising Tide Center is guided by the notion that a “rising tide lifts all boats,” meaning that through our efforts to create more equitable environments, we provide a more supportive place to learn and work for everyone – regardless of gender.

The Rising Tide Center was launched with a $3.3 million grant from the NSF focused on recruiting, retaining and advancing women faculty in the sciences. While the grant has terminated, we continue this work at UMaine and beyond by engaging our community around gender equity issues. Rising Tide research, outreach, and programming efforts support the academic tenets of our partner academic program, Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies.

We invite you to peruse our site, learn more about our programs, and to offer your support for continuing this work in the future.
