{"id":5058,"date":"2021-07-01T16:21:07","date_gmt":"2021-07-01T20:21:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/return\/?p=5058"},"modified":"2023-04-07T13:25:55","modified_gmt":"2023-04-07T17:25:55","slug":"crrssa-required-website-posting-information-update-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/return\/2021\/07\/01\/crrssa-required-website-posting-information-update-1\/","title":{"rendered":"CRRSSA Required Website Posting Information &#8211; Update #1"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><strong>University of Maine and University of Maine at Machias<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2021 (CRRSAA) \u2013 Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund for Student Aid<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h4><strong>Report #1<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Sponsor:&nbsp; U.S. Department of Education<\/p>\n<p>Award Number:&nbsp; P425E203082<\/p>\n<p>Award Amount:&nbsp; $3,948,625<\/p>\n<p>Report Period:&nbsp; January 14, 2021 \u2014 March 31, 2021<\/p>\n<p>Report Date: June 28, 2021<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Source and Purpose of Funds<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>The University of Maine (\u201cUMaine\u201d) and the University of Maine at Machias (&#8220;UMM&#8221;) received the above award from the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSAA) passed by Congress on January 14, 2021 to provide emergency financial aid grants to eligible.<\/p>\n<p>On April 22, 2020, UMaine submitted the required <a href=\"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/stuaid\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/189\/2021\/10\/Signed-CARES-Act-Agreement-UMaine-4.21.2020.pdf\">Certification and Agreement<\/a> (please link signed C&amp;A) to the U.S. Department of Education (U.S. DOE) committing to use these funds to provide emergency aid directly to our eligible students.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Eligibility Requirements<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Consistent with the guidance from the U.S. DOE, eligible students include all students who were enrolled at UMaine on March 24, 2021 with the following exceptions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Non-degree students<\/li>\n<li>Students with no enrollment for Spring 2021 (incluing Spring 2021 Semester withdrawals) at the time of the first disbursement of funds<\/li>\n<li>Employees receiving UMS Employee Tuition benefits<\/li>\n<li>Early College students<\/li>\n<li>International\/DACA Students<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><strong>Distribution Plan<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>UMaine and UMM will automatically distribute approximately 96 percent of these funds to all eligible students. Award amounts will be tiered as follows based on: the number of credit hours in which the student is enrolled as of March 24, 2021, academic career, and in accordance with DOE guidelines, financial need.<\/p>\n<p><u>Undergraduate Base Amounts<\/u><\/p>\n<p>.1 \u2013 5.99 Credit Hours: $125<br \/>\n6 \u2013 11.99 Credit Hours: $225<br \/>\n12+ Credit Hours: $325<\/p>\n<p><u>Graduate Base Amounts<\/u><\/p>\n<p>.1 \u2013 2.99 Credit Hours: $200<br \/>\n3 \u2013 5.99 Credit Hours: $225<br \/>\n6+ Credit Hours: $325<\/p>\n<p>Additional Amounts<\/p>\n<p>High Need (EFC &lt;= 5211): +$200<br \/>\nMedium (Between EFC &gt; 5711 and EFC &lt;= COA): +$100<br \/>\nLow (No FAFSA, or EFC &gt; COA): +$0<\/p>\n<p>The remaining 4 percent (approximately) of the CRRSAA student aid will be made available by application to eligible students who self-identify with additional need as a result of being impacted by COVID-19. The application will be made available to eligible students after all block grants have been distributed.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Remaining Funds from CARES Act Funding<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>UMaine carried forward the remaining unspent portion of the initial CARES Act funding ($210,650) to the total allocation of HEERF II funding for the second round of direct payments to students.
