I have tested positive for COVID-19. What should I do?
UMaine and UMaine Machias students, faculty and staff who test positive for COVID-19 are asked to submit an online self-report form.
With the increased incidence of COVID-19 cases, university-based contact tracing will focus on outbreaks. Individuals who test positive are asked to open the lines of communication with those you know are your close contacts — your roommate or classmate, your coworker, etc. Also notify the faculty member of your in-person class or your workplace supervisor.
Anyone in the university community who tests positive should self-isolate for five days from the onset of COVID-19 symptoms. Community members can return to campus after that time, so long as they have 24 hours with no fever (without the use of fever-reducing medications) and other symptoms of COVID-19 (with the exception of loss of taste or smell) are improving. Face coverings are recommended for at least 10 days after testing positive.
