Virtual information sessions for UMaine faculty — July 27–31
Five virtual information sessions for University of Maine faculty were held July 27–31. The first, led by President Joan Ferrini-Mundy, UMS Chancellor Dannel Malloy and Interim Provost Faye Gilbert, was co-sponsored by the Office of the Provost, Faculty Senate and AFUM. The Student Experience: From Moving in, to Testing, to Campus Activities and Student Services
Facilitators: Robert Dana, Andra Bowen, Andrea Gifford and Lauri Sidelko
This session is designed to provide faculty members and other participants with an overview of the student experience for fall 2020, including moving in, testing, student engagement and Student Life services. This is a link to a recording of the July 28 information session.
Safety and Physical Setup of Rooms
Facilitators: Geremy Chubbuck, Ryan Ward, Doug Cyr and Stewart Harvey
This session will review the work done this summer to prepare classrooms and buildings for the fall return. It also will review the operational work that has been done and is planned. This is a link to a recording of the first July 29 information session.
Teaching modalities/support for preparation/Brightspace
Facilitators: Monique LaRocque and Peter Schilling
Discussion among faculty about approaches to fall classes, including remote teaching, F2F/hybrid and Brightspace. Faculty will be able to engage in conversation with their colleagues about how they are approaching different teaching/learning modalities, and what resources are available to support them as they prepare their fall classes.
