{"id":1324,"date":"2020-11-06T13:43:35","date_gmt":"2020-11-06T18:43:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/retirees\/?p=1324"},"modified":"2024-01-31T13:50:45","modified_gmt":"2024-01-31T18:50:45","slug":"november-2020-minutes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/retirees\/2020\/11\/06\/november-2020-minutes\/","title":{"rendered":"November 2020 Minutes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>UM President\u2019s Council of Retired Employees<\/strong><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/retirees\">umaine.edu\/retirees<\/a><br \/>\nNovember 6, 2020<br \/>\n8:15 to 9:15 am<br \/>\n<strong>Minutes<\/strong><br \/>\nMeeting via Zoom<\/p>\n<p><strong>Attendees:<\/strong> David Bagley, Louis Bassano, Nancy Boyington (by phone), Dusty Dowse, Marian Dressler, Richard Judd, Sarah McPartland-Good, Sue Randall, Thomas Sandford, Phyllis Thibodeau, Gloria Volmers and Kim Whitehead<br \/>\n<strong>Absent:<\/strong> Michael Pullen<br \/>\nPresident Ferrini-Mundy sent her apologies for not being able to attend the meeting.<\/p>\n<p>Dusty Dowse called the meeting to order at 8:15 a.m.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Approved minutes of October 9, 2020, meeting<\/strong><br \/>\nMinutes were approved<\/p>\n<p><strong>Retiree Homecoming:<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Committee unanimously approved to explore a virtual online version of the retiree homecoming in 2021. This will be a topic of discussion at future meetings.<\/p>\n<p>Dusty has had many experiences with virtual events so he will share his ideas with the Committee.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Newsletter:<\/strong><br \/>\nSue Randall will work with Sarah McPartland-Good on the yearly Silver Tracks newsletter. Sarah has offered to assist us in getting the newsletter mailed to all retirees.<\/p>\n<p>The Council will need to submit items to be included in the newsletter.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Membership List Update:<\/strong><br \/>\nAn updated retiree list continues to be an ongoing concern. Dusty will communicate with the President and Chris Lindstrom to see if they can help us sort this out. Human Resources plays an important role with this list. Sarah\u2019s office provided us with a list last year, but it only includes the retirees who were donors which excludes many people.<\/p>\n<p><strong>AON Discussion:<\/strong><br \/>\nDusty would like to put together a document of everyone\u2019s experiences with their AON advisor\u2019s meeting. If you have already submitted your short paragraph, please confirm if you want your name listed. If you haven\u2019t already sent it, please forward a brief paragraph and he will compile and send to all committee members to view.<\/p>\n<p>Kim Whitehead asked if there was a list of providers that were in the network. Unfortunately, there isn\u2019t a list.<\/p>\n<p>The President will be sending out a letter soon to all retirees about the AON situation. Anyone interested in giving feedback on the letter should notify Kim as soon as possible.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Harold Brown Scholarship:<\/strong><br \/>\nMarian Dressler reported that an award of $575 has been awarded to a student for the 2020-2021 academic year.
