The function of the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) is to ensure that research using recombinant DNA or infectious agents is carried out in conformity with federal guidelines. Questions regarding the IBC may be directed to Dr. John Singer,  207/581-2808, jsinger@maine.edu, Chair of the Committee.

Policies and Procedures for Research Involving Recombinant or Synthetic Nucleic Acid Molecules or Infectious Agents  (Revised May 2017)

Request-Notification Regarding the Use of Recombinant DNA (print out and send to John Singer, Hitchner Hall)

Request to Use Class 2 or Higher Infectious Agents in Teaching or Research (print out and send to John Singer, Hitchner Hall)

Required Training:  All faculty, staff, and students involved with the use of recombinant DNA or infectious agents must complete training

Biosafety Checklist (recommended that BLS2 labs conduct a self-audit on a yearly basis)
