Congrats to 2019 Summer Faculty Research Awardees

Four new projects were recently selected for funding by the Faculty Research Funds Committee for the 2019 Summer Faculty Research Awards.  These awards provide summer salary for faculty to advance research and scholarship in an accelerated manner during the summer of 2019.

This year’s awardees are:

  1. Christine Beitl, Associate Professor, Department of Anthropology, “The effect of social network dynamics on inequality and wellbeing in rural Ecuador”
  2. Aaron Joy, Visiting Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, ” A Variationally Consistent Finite Element Formulation for Complex-Valued Differential Equations”
  3. Asli Sezen-Barrie, Assistant Professor, College of Education and Human Development, “K-12 Teachers’ Conceptualization of Engineering in Rural Science Classrooms”
  4. Terry Yoo, Associate Professor, School of Computing and Information Sciences, “Vision and Visualization Research in Marine and Climate Sciences: New Collaborative Projects and Resources for UMaine”
