Abstract: In an effort to accelerate the commercialization of cross-laminated timber (CLT) technologies utilizing native Maine wood species, a building design and engineering study for a demonstration project in Maine will be completed to perform a cost analysis between cross-laminated timber construction and traditional steel and concrete construction. This study will provide valuable information to leverage state, bond, and foundation funding for construction of a demonstration project in Maine. In addition, the project can be used to build a knowledge base to promote Maine and its forest resource as an ideal candidate for potential construction of a $30 million CLT manufacturing facility hiring up to 50 people
