The policy also&nbsp;<strong>requires all personnel who work with biohazards to complete biosafety\/biosecurity training through the university\u2019s Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) subscription<\/strong>. All students, postdocs, technicians working in your lab must complete the training.<strong>&nbsp;Please be sure to inform them of this requirement and keep documentation of training.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/research-compliance\/resource\/instructions-for-citi-training\/\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/umaine.edu\/research-compliance\/resource\/instructions-for-citi-training\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1678987408099000&amp;usg=AOvVaw3zvrQVqMw4_h09RkxT4ppa\"><strong>Instructions for CITI Training (Word)<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Note: <\/em>All instructors, teaching personnel, and researchers performing biological work are required to be registered and complete the training.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The four specific modules you are required to complete are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Introduction to Biosafety<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Basic Biosafety Training (<strong>Note: <\/strong>this will show up as \u201cTraining for Investigators, Staff and Students Handling Biohazards\u201d in your list of courses once added)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select Agents, Biosecurity and Bioterrorism<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>NIH Recombinant DNA (rDNA Guidelines)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The CITI training is valid for four years from the date of completion.<\/strong> CITI will send reminders when it is time to retake the training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Up Next:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/research-compliance\/biosafety\/ibc-forms-resources\/\">Forms &amp; Resources<\/a><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The University\u2019s&nbsp;Policies and Procedures for Research Involving Recombinant or Synthetic Nucleic Acid Molecules or Infectious Agents&nbsp;include a training requirement.
