Joseph Lee is a native of Bath, Maine and a graduate of Morse High School. He began his tenure as Vice President of Enrollment Management at UMaine on July 1, 2017.
He brings many years of experience in Enrollment Management and Student Life, having served 14 years at Merrimack College, first as Dean of Admissions and subsequently as Vice President for Student Services, where he continued to oversee the college’s recruitment efforts. He was the impetus for Merrimack joining Hockey East and looks forward to once again being a part of a Division I athletic program. His next stop was Manhattan College in the Bronx, where he was Vice President for Student Life for more than 11years. In addition to supervising the Enrollment Management team, he was responsible for areas of student life, including the athletic program.
He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from St. Michael’s College in Vermont and his Ph.D. from Boston College. In addition to the above institutions, he has served as President of Thomas More College in Crestview Hills, Kentucky, St. Joseph’s College in Standish, Maine and, most recently, Pine Manor College in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts.
His main area of interest continues to be Enrollment Management. He is excited about the team in place and hopes to continue the success UMaine has experienced over the past two years. Happy to be back in his home state, Dr. Lee has been extremely impressed by the many opportunities offered by the University of Maine for its students, both in and out of the classroom.
