She reports directly to both the President of the University of Maine, and to the Vice Chancellor of Finance and Administration for the University of Maine System.
CBO Strickland is responsible for leading both institutions in developing balanced budgets by participating with the President and the leadership team in short-term and long-range planning in support of the campus mission and strategic priorities. She manages the overall financial condition of both campuses, including the commitment of campus resources, financial forecasting and the oversight of all aspects of the day-to-day financial enterprise.
Her direct reports include the Budget Office, Auxiliary Services, the Bursar’s Office, Facilities Management, and Parking and Transportation.
Prior to her appointment as Chief Business Officer in 2015, Ms. Strickland held various financial positions with increasing responsibilities, including Assistant Vice President for Administration and Finance, Director of Budget & Business Services, as well as Financial and Budget Analyst. She also served as a financial assistant to numerous Deans in one of the major colleges of the university.
She came to the University of Maine as a first-year student in 1971, intending to teach French and History after graduation in 1975, but never left the university she holds dear to her heart (the college of our hearts always).
