The Physics Education Research Laboratory has a strong history of receiving external funding to support its work, though not all projects are supported by external funding. The following projects (in roughly chronological order) is not complete. Click on the links for more information:

Present projects

We are a bit slow in keeping up to date with this page, so there are no links. Present projects include:

  • Understanding context-dependent reasoning in physics
  • Investigating student use of mathematics in physics, including
    • validity checking of derived equations and the use of coordinate systems
    • differential volume elements in three dimensions
  • Investigating student troubleshooting in the laboratory
  • Studying content knowledge for teaching with middle and high school teachers, particularly in the area of energy and force and motion
