Sponsor Specific Revisions

  • NSF/ Fastlane/ Research.gov
    • For NSF, revisions are submitted through the Proposal File Update module or Revised Proposal Budget Module in Fastlane (under “Proposal Functions”)
    • For instructions on how to submit a Proposal File Update, see the Fastlane Help Guide, page 279
    • For instructions on how to submit NSF budget revisions, see the , page 368
  • NIH eRA Commons

    • Just In Time (JIT) information
      • If a proposal gets a high enough priority score during review, an automatic email request for JIT information will be sent to the PI and ORA.
      • Sometimes specific additional information may be requested by the program officer, and they may request that it be submitted via eRA Commons.
      • Basic JIT information includes updated Other Support for key personnel and IRB/ IACUC dates. There is also a “Budget Upload” slot for a revised budget and another for “Other Upload”, either of which may or may not be required.
      • All attachments must be submitted as flat PDF files (not fillable), which means that if you upload a Modular budget form with a budget justification as an attachment, it will NOT work. Print the budget form to pdf (or scan), and then upload the justification as an “Other Upload” document.
      • PIs should upload their documents into the eRA Commons, and then email their ORA staff contact so they can review and submit. PIs cannot submit JIT requests directly to NIH.

Email – either ORA or the PI (with permission from ORA) may email documents to the sponsor, as long as any required documents are approved and signed by ORA. If PI emails documents to the sponsor, be sure to cc: the ORA staff member you have been working with.
