A limited competition is a solicitation from a sponsor where only a certain number of proposals can be submitted from an institution. The following policy has been established for submitting proposals to these limited competition announcements:
- It is the responsibility of the researcher/PI to check the award announcement to see if it is a limited competition.
- The researcher must indicate their intent to apply by finding the RFP in the Limited Competitions Registry, clicking on the “Limited” link, and signing up.
- If the RFP is not in the ORA Limited Competitions Registry, the researcher must contact ORA no less than 30 days prior to the submission deadline in order to notify them of their intent to apply.
- If there are more potential applicants than the solicitation allows, the Office of the Vice President for Research will conduct an internal competition in order to determine which proposal(s) will be submitted to the sponsor.
Please read the revised policy regarding Limited & Internal Competitions (PDF).
