{"id":3272,"date":"2021-03-30T09:52:11","date_gmt":"2021-03-30T13:52:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/oira\/?p=3272"},"modified":"2021-03-31T09:38:26","modified_gmt":"2021-03-31T13:38:26","slug":"spring-2021-enrollment-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/oira\/spring-2021-enrollment-update\/","title":{"rendered":"Spring 2021 Enrollment Update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The spring census date, when we capture the official enrollment numbers, was February 15.\u00a0 Some spring census highlights are:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>UM<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Overall UM spring enrollment, including Early College, was up by 530 students (5%): 11,383 this year vs. 10,853 last year. Excluding Early College, enrollment was 3% above last year (10,961 this year vs. 10,626 last year).\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Total undergraduate enrollment was at 8,969, 2% above last year.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Total graduate enrollment was 2,414 (15% above last year).\u00a0 This is a record for graduate enrollment at UMaine.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0Early College enrollment was up by 195 students (85% increase over last year).\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Degree-seeking undergraduate enrollment was up by 46 students (1%) and degree-seeking graduate enrollment is up by 384 students (21%).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Overall fall-to-spring retention rate for degree-seeking undergraduates was flat to last year at 91%.\u00a0 The fall-to-spring retention rate for first-year students was down by 1 percentage point (89% vs. 90%).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>UMM<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Overall, enrollment at the University of Maine at Machias, including Early College, was flat to last year at 680.\u00a0 Excluding Early College, enrollment was down by 75 students (a 14% decrease).\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Early College enrollment was up by 75 students (52% increase over last year).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Overall fall-to-spring retention was three percentage points below last year (80% vs. 83%).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Spring 2021 Majors Report (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">i.e.<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, enrollment by major, academic unit, and college) has now been posted to our website <\/span><b>here.<\/b> <a href=\"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/oira\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/502\/2021\/03\/Spring-21-3-29-21.pdf\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Spring 2021 Enrollment Report<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The spring census date, when we capture the official enrollment numbers, was February 15.\u00a0 Some spring census highlights are: UM Overall UM spring enrollment, including Early College, was up by 530 students (5%): 11,383 this year vs. 10,853 last year.
