INFRASTRUCTURE UPGRADES<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>addressed to:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\">University of Maine<br \/>\nDarling Marine Center<br \/>\nc\/o Dr. Heather Leslie, Director<br \/>\n193 Clarks Cove Road<br \/>\nWalpole ME 04573<\/p>\n<p>will be received until <strong><u>1:00pm<\/u><\/strong> on <strong><u>Thursday, April 11, 2019<\/u><\/strong>, at which time the Bids will be opened and read aloud in the Lou Dean Library on the upper campus of the DMC.\u00a0 Bids received after the stated time will not be considered and will be returned unopened.<\/p>\n<p>Bids must be accompanied by a satisfactory Bid Bond for 5% of the Bid (checks will not be accepted) which shall be in conformity with the form of Bond contained in Section 00 43 13 of the Specifications.\u00a0 The University reserves the right to waive all formalities and reject any or all bids or to accept any bids.<\/p>\n<p>The successful Bidder will be required to furnish a 100% Performance Bond and a 100% Payment Bond to cover the execution of the Contract which shall be in conformity with the form of Bonds contained in Sections 00 61 13.13 and 00 61 13.16, respectively, of the Specifications and shall be for the Contract amount.<\/p>\n<p>Surety companies must be listed on the Treasury Circular 570.<\/p>\n<p>All Bidders must attend a <u>mandatory<\/u> pre-bid meeting in the Administration Building at the Darling Marine Center, 193 Clarks Cove Road; Walpole ME 04573, on <u>Tuesday, March 19, 2019<\/u>, at <u>1:00pm<\/u>.\u00a0 Attendance at this meeting by Bidders or qualified representative is a mandatory prerequisite for the acceptance of a bid.\u00a0 This will be the only time the building will be available for inspection.\u00a0 Copies of plans and specifications will not be available at the pre-bid meeting.\u00a0 Acquiring or reviewing plans and specifications prior to the meeting is advised.<\/p>\n<p>Project Summary:\u00a0 The project, partially funded by the US Department of Commerce, through an Economic Development Administration (EDA) grant, is located at the Flowing Seawater Laboratory (FSL) building at the Darling Marine Center (DMC) in Walpole ME.\u00a0 The base Scope consists of three components. \u00a0The first is a new land-based pump house and seawater intake infrastructure to replace the existing dock-based pumping system.\u00a0 The second is selective renovation of the FSL to improve its seawater research capabilities.\u00a0 The third is the electrical and plumbing improvements to support the new renovation improvements and supply services to the new dock being constructed under a separate contract.<\/p>\n<p>This project has the following alternatives, if necessary, listed in the order for which they are to be applied:<\/p>\n<p>Deduct\/Alternate #1:\u00a0 New 800 amp Building Feeder \u2013 See Section 01 23 00 for complete scope.<br \/>\nDeduct\/Alternate #2:\u00a0 New Heat Pump Station \u2013 See Section 01 23 00 for complete scope.<br \/>\nDeduct\/Alternate #3:\u00a0 New Seawater Heating System \u2013 See Section 01 23 00 for complete scope.<br \/>\nDeduct\/Alternate #4:\u00a0 New Hayward Bag Filter System \u2013 See Section 01 23 00 for complete scope.<\/p>\n<p>The electronic documents (.pdf) may be examined and downloaded at the following site:<\/p>\n<p>Specifications: \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/ofm\/resource\/specifications-flowing-seawater-laboratory-renovation-infrastructure-upgrades\/\">Flowing Seawater Laboratory Renovation &amp;
