Morse discusses scallop farming methods with Mainebiz

Stakeholders in Maine’s farmed scallop industry are planning to visit Japan to meet growers, harvesters, processors and others who can help diversify Maine’s coastal economy. Mainebiz cited a University of Maine report, which stated much of U.S. scallop farming techniques come from Japan. “We have learned so much over the years about scallop farming from our Japanese colleagues, so much that we now have a farmed industry in Maine and are seeing very promising results,” said Dana Morse, senior extension program manager and aquaculture lead for Maine Sea Grant and University of Maine Cooperative Extension.
