Join the 13th annual UMaine March Against Domestic Violence Oct. 17
The 13th annual March Against Domestic Violence will take place at 5 p.m. on Oct 17 starting on the steps of the Fogler Library.
The march will proceed around the mall and end in the North Pod of the Memorial Union. Following the march, speakers representing Partners for Peace, the Confidential Resource Advisor, the UMaine Counseling Center, Triota, All Maine Women and Student Government will share insights on domestic violence and ways to detect it to improve safety.
A remembrance ceremony will also be held for lives lost to domestic violence recently. UMaine Renaissance will perform at the end. Community resources will be available for those who need them.
On average, someone becomes a victim of physical assault, sexual assault or stalking by an intimate parter every 24 minutes, according to the National Domestic Violence Hotline.
