Mayewski interviewed by CNN about moving Everest base camp

In an article about Nepal potentially moving the Mount Everest base camp as a result of climate change, CNN spoke to Paul Mayewski, director of the Climate Change Institute at the University of Maine, about a study he authored that revealed that ice formed over a period of 2,000 years on the South Col Glacier melted in around 25 years. Mayewski told CNN that the findings showed “a complete change from what has been experienced in that area, throughout probably all of the period of occupation by humans in the mountains.” Nine News Australia, MSN Canada, KVIA-TV (ABC 7 in El Paso, Texas), KMIZ-TV (ABC 17 in Columbia, Missouri) and other international outlets shared the CNN report.
