Phillip and Susan Morse (’64) pledge $1 million to support UMaine Athletic Facilities Master Plan

Phillip H. and Susan K. Morse, both members of the University of Maine Class of ’64, are giving $1 million to support UMaine’s Athletic Facilities Master Plan, which is part of the UMS TRANSFORMS initiative launched in October 2020 by the Harold Alfond Foundation’s $240 million commitment to the University of Maine System.

The gift, which is an unrestricted commitment to directly aid UMaine’s capital effort, continues the longstanding relationship between the Black Bears and the Morse Family.

“After 57 years, Sue and I continue our strong bond with the University of Maine that was forged in the early 1960s,” says Phillip Morse. “Our current donation is just a continuation of the commitment I made to Harold Alfond back in 1997, when the idea of the joint venture for a new stadium and new synthetic field was born. Harold would be proud today. Sue, myself, and our daughter Katherine (’95) will continue to support our alma mater for years to come.”
