News Observer reports on forum at UMaine Machias

The Machias Valley News Observer reported on a recent open forum at the University of Maine at Machias hosted by University of Maine System Chancellor Dannel Malloy, University of Maine President Joan Ferrini-Mundy and other UMS and UMaine officials. Institutional leaders discussed academic collaborations and priorities, budget development, strategic planning and unified accreditation. “I describe this university as a very special small campus in a beautiful part of Maine that provides an incredible learning opportunity for students who are interested in a place where they can get experiential learning, where they can have strong access to faculty and staff and each other, and where there is a community spirit that is very particular to this place,” Ferrini-Mundy said. The visit was part of the chancellor’s fall 2021 campus tour schedule. “I would like to support this institution to the extent that it has a larger share of the students in state and is even more attractive to students from out of state. So that we can have the resources necessary to provide the absolute best education that a student desires from us,” Malloy said.
