CCI researcher participating in Comic Con panel as STEAM Superstar

Kimberly Miner, a research assistant professor with the University of Maine Climate Change Institute, will participate in the panel STEAM Superstars on Nov. 27 during San Diego Comic-Con Special Edition.

Miner, a UMaine alumna who also is a scientist with NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab, will join other women scientists and engineers who incorporate art and other unconventional methods to teach and communicate science. Panelists will meet with attendees and discuss their career paths in an effort to inspire children to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM) fields.

All of the speakers, including Miner, are American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) IF/THEN ambassadors, women who serve as role models for future pioneers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). In addition to the panel, they will host a miniature fashion show, during which they will adorn their everyday work attire with sashays and a superhero twist.
