News Observer reports on Johnson’s fishermen health care surveying

The Machias Valley News Observer reported on an effort led by Tora Johnson to survey lobstermen and other shellfish harvesters to better assess the work-related health issues they face and their access to health care. “Ultimately the idea is to identify potential solutions to these issues and find funding and support from state and federal agencies to (investigate) better access and better healthcare,” says Johnson, who charis the Division of Environmental and Biological Sciences and directs the GIS Laboratory and Service Center at UMaine Machias.
