News Center reports on committee approving Little Hall name change

News Center Maine reported on University of Maine Finance, Facilities and Technology Committee’s approval of renaming Little Hall. The decision to name the building after Beryl Warner Williams, the first Black graduate to earn a degree in mathematics at UMaine in the 1930s, must first be approved by the University of Maine System. “She serves as a model and exemplifies the kinds of accomplishments that we wish to honor in this new name,” said Joan Ferrini-Mundy, University of Maine System vice chancellor for research and innovation and University of Maine president. “I’m very proud of all of my colleagues and the community here at the University of Maine for taking a very deliberative and measured, but also an effective process for making this kind of a change.”
