The Guardian highlights Niemisto, UMaine lobster research

The Guardian reported that a study by Maura Niemisto, who recently earned a master’s degree in marine sciences from the University of Maine, shows that changes in ocean temperature and acidity impact shell development, stress response and immune function in lobsters. The study, published in the journal Ecology and Evolution, was conducted in collaboration with researchers from UMaine’s Lobster Institute, the University of Prince Edward Island and Dalhousie University in Canada, and Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences.
