Pen Bay Pilot reports on Schwartz’s NSF CAREER award

The Penobscot Bay Pilot shared a University of Maine news release highlighting a National Science Foundation grant of more than $513,000 to Thomas Schwartz, an assistant professor of chemical engineering. Schwartz received the award to research a chemical process used in making a component of synthetic rubber called butadiene, which will support development of biobased, renewable chemicals for use in the production of synthetic rubber.
