WABI, BDN cite Ferrini-Mundy in report on placement of last beam at new engineering center

WABI talked with University of Maine President Joan Ferrini-Mundy in covering the placement of the final beam in the Ferland Engineering Education and Design Center. Ferrini-Mundy noted that the new engineering center will help UMaine to meet the state’s economic and workforce demands. The beam, which was hoisted into place with a virtual ceremony on Friday, has a time capsule and a Crosby clip attached. The clip, which is still used today in steel construction, was invented and patented by 1876 mechanical engineering graduate Oliver Crosby. The Bangor Daily News and The Piscataquis Observer also reported on the placement of the last beam.
