Mayewski, Miller to join ‘Maine Calling’ programs about Arctic geopolitics, ethics of vaccination

Paul Mayewski, director of the University of Maine Climate Change Institute, is participating in a “Maine Calling” discussion about how the “dramatic, irreversible changes” in the Arctic will influence geopolitics at 11 a.m. and again at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16. 

Other participants in the upcoming discussion include Frances Ulmer, former chair of the U.S. Arctic Research Commission and senior fellow with the Harvard University Kennedy School; Charles Norchi, a professor with the Maine School of Law and director of the Center for Oceans and Coastal Law; and Holly Parker, director of UNE NORTH: The Institute for North Atlantic Studies. 

On Wednesday, Feb. 17, Jessica Miller, professor of philosophy at UMaine, will appear on “Maine Calling” at 11 a.m. to discuss the ethics of vaccinations with Dr. James Jarvis, Medical Director of Northern Light Health’s Covid-19 Incident Command. This episode can also be heard again at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
