MainebizNews Center Maine, the Portland Press HeraldCentralmaine.com, WABI (Channel 5) and WVII (Channel 7) reported on a virtual discussion about the University of Maine System’s plan to create a Maine College of Engineering, Computing and Information Science. MCECIS, the development of which is supported by $75 million from an overall $240 million investment from the Harold Alfond Foundation, is expected to unify and expand undergraduate engineering programs at the University of Maine and University of Southern Maine, expand UMaine graduate engineering programs to Portland, streamline pathways into the statewide college from all UMS universities, and create new opportunities for shared programs, interdisciplinary structures and partnerships.
