Maine Business School names former nonprofit executive Taylor Ashley new internship coordinator, academic advisor
The Maine Business School enlisted former nonprofit leader Taylor Ashley to serve as its new internship coordinator and academic advisor.
Ashley, the former executive director for the International Friendship Center, which provides social services to Western North Carolina’s immigrant community, aims to increase awareness for the internship program among students and businesses and connect with business school alumni to establish connections with their employers. He also hopes to diversify the opportunities available to include small businesses, corporations, nonprofits and international businesses.
“I believe my business degrees as well as my experience in the Peace Corps and AmeriCorps uniquely qualify me to build strategic partnerships,” Ashley says.
The new Maine Business School internship coordinator and academic advisor earned his bachelor’s degree in business and MBA from the University of Central Florida. While working for the International Friendship Center, he improved and developed new programs, fundraising and marketing initiatives, and established partnerships with local service providers.
“Taylor comes to us with experience creating strong connections for nonprofit organizations,” says Faye W. Gilbert, dean of the Maine Business School. “He understands the strengths of business education. And he has the skills to assist our students and potential employers in defining and finding internships that work.”
