Lilley to lead Sept. 28 webinar about root cellaring

Root cellaring is a low-energy method for storing the bounty from the garden. University of Maine Cooperative Extension will offer a webinar focused on how to store produce from noon to 1 p.m. Sept. 28.

UMaine Extension Professional Jason Lilley will cover ideal storage conditions for crops, and how to create those conditions throughout most households in the webinar titled “Root Cellaring: A Cheap and Easy Method for Preserving Your Harvest.”

While the talk will touch on specialized outbuilding structures for root cellaring, the focus will be on cheap and simple modifications to your garden or areas of your homes to optimize produce storage length and quality.

Registration is required; a $5 donation is optional. Register on the event webpage to attend live or receive a link to the recording. This is the final session in the summer gardening webinar series.
