Media advance Extension tractor safety courses

The Republican Journal and Advertiser Democrat advanced University of Maine Cooperative Extension tractor safety courses for youth and adults beginning in April. The Republican Journal reported a five-week course will begin April 16 and run through May 14 at Ingraham’s Equipment in Knox from 5 to 7 p.m. The course is open to all interested adults and youth, but it is required for 14- and 15-year-olds who plan to operate farm equipment for hire on farms other than their own. Priority will be given to youth ages 14 to 16. A Federal Certificate of Training will be issued at the completion of the course after successful completion of the written test and driving course, the article states. The fee is $20 and includes a manual. Registration is online. For more information or to request a reasonable accommodation, contact Sadee Mehuren at 207.342.5971, sadee.mehuren@maine.edu. Advertiser Democrat previewed courses starting April 6 in multiple locations: Cumberland, Kennebec, Knox-Lincoln, Oxford and Waldo counties. Editor’s note: the Knox-Lincoln course has been canceled.
