The Republican Journal reported the University of Maine is offering tuition-free early college courses this summer to qualified high school students through a partnership with the Maine Department of Education and the University of Maine System. More than 50 courses will be offered in a variety of formats, including online and live courses at the UMaine Hutchinson Center in Belfast and the UMaine flagship campus in Orono. Courses will be offered in biology, pre-calculus, chemistry, child development and family relations, English, history, leadership studies, literacy, mathematics, psychology and more. Registration is online for the courses, which are suitable for rising high school juniors and seniors and meet general education requirements for the majority of colleges nationwide, the article states.
