Spring planting workshop offered May 28 at Rogers Farm

University of Maine Cooperative Extension is offering a spring planting workshop 6–7 p.m. May 28 at UMaine’s Rogers Farm in Old Town. The rain date is June 4.

Participants will learn best practices for planting ornamental seedlings, dahlias, hops and vegetable transplants, as well as how to sow flower and vegetable seeds directly into the garden. The workshop will include a tour through theme gardens and the opportunity to try different planting techniques. UMaine Extension Master Gardener Volunteers and staff will discuss butterfly habitat, renovating overgrown perennial beds, irrigation and soil preparation. The event is suitable for both new and experienced gardeners.
