University of Maine Museum of Art announces fall exhibitions

The University of Maine Museum of Art has announced its fall exhibitions, running Sept. 14 through Dec. 29.

Shelley Reed’s “Second Nature” is a collection of black-and-white oil paintings that “highlight essential dualities and are imbued with profound messages related to fragility, power and life’s uncertainties.”

Darren Emenau’s “Olio” features handmade ceramic objects, from vessels to wall-oriented pieces, reflecting “unharnessed and playful explorations of form and materials.” His works evoke elements of nature through unique hues and raised, cracked textures.

“So Real” and “Animalistic” are exhibitions of selections from the museum’s permanent collection.

The museum is open 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and is located at 40 Harlow Street in Bangor. Admission is free in 2018 thanks to Deighan Wealth Advisors.
