Small grain, cover crop meeting at UMaine Aroostook Farm

University of Maine Cooperative Extension will sponsor a small grain and cover crop informational meeting 6–8 p.m. Tuesday, July 19 at UMaine’s Aroostook Farm.

Participants will meet at the UMaine Extension office, 57 Houlton Road, Presque Isle, and travel to the site.

Presenters will discuss topics, including malt barley varieties, disease census of Maine small grains, cover cropping, managing grain protein, alternative crops, crop insurance and United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) programs. Scheduled speakers include staff from UMaine Extension, the Maine Potato Board, and the USDA’s Farm Service Agency and Risk Management Agency.
