UMaine Extension bulletin on bedbugs cited in Kennebec Journal article

A University of Maine Cooperative Extension bulletin written by Jim Dill, a pest management specialist, and Clay Kirby, an insect diagnostician, was cited in a Kennebec Journal article about a reported bedbug infestation in Augusta boarding houses. According to the bulletin, bedbugs are making a comeback in the United States. The pests are brown, flat and about one-quarter-inch long with a soft, rounded look, but become dark red and larger after consuming blood. The bugs feed on human blood but are not believed to carry disease, according to the article.
